Half-timbered houses, paved streets, glazed tile roofs, Beffroi (clock tower), Hôtel-Dieu, 12th century collegiate church, ramparts and watch towers… THE MEDIEVAL CITY OF BEAUNE is one of the best preserved in Burgundy. It’s CULTURAL RICHNESS has been made official by the ‘City of Art and History’ label.
From June to September, the staging of digital projections onto its emblematic sites turns Beaune into a city of light.
Numerous FESTIVALS punctuate the course of the year of which the most emblematic is the Baroque Musical Festival. The famous Hospices of Beaune WINE AUCTION is unmissable for all buyers, brokers and amateurs, and has been for more than a century. The town also boasts a prodigious number of antique shops that send shivers of delight down bargain hunters’ spines.

Beaune remains the indisputable historic capital of ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS VINEYARDS IN THE WORLD: The Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. The mythic Romanée-Conti, Chambertin, Montrachet, a DREAM BOTTLED! The eternal legend of these reds that are made exclusively from Pinot noir, and of these elegant whites with mineral character that are made from Chardonnay. So, even if Belen, the god of water, gave his name to Beaune, we drink very little water!

Beaune, with its LOVE OF GOOD FOOD, also honours Burgundy traditional cuisine: œufs en meurette, ham with parsley, bœuf bourguignon, escargots, pike or zander dumplings, Epoisses cheese, iced gingerbread, mustard, blackcurrant… We count no fewer than 200 establishments reserved for gourmets (star-rated restaurants, bistrots, wine bars and wine-tasting cellars). We will share our favourite addresses with you. Here, what reigns is a real pleasure in savouring life, and contagious good humour!

Situated in a rural area that boasts valleys, plains and forests, Beaune invites you to DISCOVER THE SURROUNDING AREA too, with its spectacular panoramas. Picturesque villages, many fortified, some of which are classified ‘most beautiful villages of France’, Roman churches, fountains, wash houses, castles, abbeys… make up part of the Burgundy heritage that must be explored.
